Fahrenheit Presents Ouutsü – Dreaming Girl at FICCI 2023
Cartagena, March 27, 2023. Fahrenheit celebrates the world premiere of Ouutsü – Dreaming Girl, an 80-minute documentary directed by David Herrera, which was selected as part of the official CINE INDÍGENA showcase at the 62nd edition of the Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI)—the oldest and one of the most important film festivals on the continent.
The team behind Ouutsü includes Katherine Herrera, Alejandro Franco, and David Herrera as executive producers; Lina Samboní as associate producer; and Mauricio Reyes as director of photography. The project was produced by Fahrenheit in co-production with Metamorfosis and Señal Colombia.
In addition to its aesthetic and testimonial value, Ouutsü stands as a bold effort to amplify women’s voices in their territories, aligning with Fahrenheit’s mission to create content with social impact, diverse narratives, and high cinematic quality.
“This film was born from a desire to listen—to be guided by the silences, the dreams, and the words of Virginia, who taught us that being a woman in La Guajira also means being a guardian of collective memory,” said David Herrera, director and lead researcher of the project.

The film tells the story of Virginia Uriana, a young Wayuu Indigenous woman who, since childhood, has dreamed of becoming a leader in her community. Ouutsü sensitively and visually portrays her journey of growth, the challenges she faces as a young woman in a traditional environment, and her fight to keep her people’s traditions alive in a rapidly changing world. Above all, the film is a tribute to Wayuu women—their aspirations for leadership and their strength in the face of adversity.
The premiere took place on Friday, March 24, at Plaza de la Proclamación, with a second screening held on Monday, March 27, at the iconic Teatro Adolfo Mejía, as part of the festival’s official program. The screenings were attended by a diverse audience, special guests, and members of the film’s creative team.
“More than an ethnographic portrait, Ouutsü is a letter of dreams written by a young woman who refuses to remain silent, even when the wind blows against her,” said Katherine Herrera, executive producer.
The participation of Ouutsü – Dreaming Girl at FICCI 2023 marks a new milestone for Fahrenheit, strengthening its presence at international festivals with stories that explore themes of identity, territory, and gender. The company will continue to support the documentary’s journey across national and international platforms and events, reaffirming its commitment to socially engaged, sensitive, and deeply human cinema.
