Daughters of the Moon: National Television Broadcast
The documentary miniseries “Daughters of the Moon” will be aired on Señal Colombia starting Sunday, June 23 at 9 pm. Directed and researched by David Herrera, this co-production between Fahrenheit and Señal Colombia will unfold in three chapters, recounting the story of three indigenous women living in a hostile territory, embarking on an intense battle against machismo and gender violence that has been escalating in their communities.
“A series celebrating the leadership and resilience of women.”
Three women united by their ancestral traditions, three corners of Colombia battered by violence, three attempts to change the future. “Daughters of the Moon” presents a deep and moving look at these women’s struggle for their rights and dignity, highlighting the strength and resilience of indigenous communities in Colombia.
In the first chapter, “Ouutsu (Dreaming Woman)”, the strange dreams of a young Wayúu indigenous woman lead her through the desert on a journey with her mother in search of answers. The second chapter, “Mupa (Mother)”, addresses the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl forced to marry her teacher, awakening Morelia’s maternal instinct and prompting her to use her influence as governor to find her. The third chapter, “Wakani (Spirit of the Forest)”, follows Adriana, a devout believer in traditional medicine, as she tries to decipher the message of the Yagé spirit urging her to build a house dedicated solely to her practice.
“Daughters of the Moon reveals the bravery of indigenous women who defy gender violence and patriarchy in their communities.”
Recently nominated for the 2024 India Catalina Awards for Best Social Inclusion Production, “Daughters of the Moon” is a must-see series that not only tells powerful stories but also seeks to raise awareness about the realities faced by many women in the country.
