Aphrodites: National Premiere Coming Soon

Soon coming to national theaters is “Aphrodites,” a genre film produced by Éxodo and distributed by Fahrenheit. Directed and written by David Herrera, in collaboration with Yvonne Bermúdez, the film stars Rami Herrera, Paola Dulce, and Catalina Gómez. With cinematography by Lola Gómez, art direction by Alejandro Abaunza, and original music by María Linares, “Aphrodites” tells the story of a group of sisters accused of inciting lust during a typhoid epidemic in 1860.

“Aphrodites transports us to a time when superstition and oppression dominated daily life.”

Based on true events, “Aphrodites” portrays a world of darkness and violence in an ultraconservative Colombia where women with liberal ideas have no rights and are purely subordinate.

The film delves into “abstract and existential horror,” using metaphorical, symbolic, and allegorical elements to create a haunting atmosphere. By exploring the deepest fears and anxieties of its characters—such as loneliness, death, and lack of control over their environment— “Aphrodites” offers a subjective view of individual freedoms in patriarchal and traditional contexts..

“A story revealing the harsh realities faced by Colombian women in the 19th century and their struggle for equality.”

“Aphrodites” will be screened in various cities nationwide, offering audiences a unique opportunity to explore a pivotal period in Colombian history. Additionally, the film will soon have its international premiere, bringing this compelling narrative to audiences around the globe.
